About Save One Soul Animal Rescue League
Save One Soul Animal Rescue League (SOSARL) is a non-profit volunteer-driven dog rescue organization based in Rhode Island. Our mission lies in our commitment to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals faced with homelessness, neglect, and abandonment.
Since our founding in 2014, we have facilitated over 5000 adoptions, over 6900 spay/neuters, and hosted over 250 events to share our mission and engage the public. Our dogs primarily come from our foster-based and shelter partners in the Southern US. Through our unwavering commitment, we aim to save one soul at a time, providing these deserving animals with a second chance and a loving home.
Save One Soul Animal Rescue League is a 501(c)3 charity, registered with the Internal Revenue Service. All donations are tax-free in accordance with IRS regulations.
Our vision is:
A world in which every dog who is able to thrive as a companion pet has a stable, long term and loving home where they are appreciated for the individual that they are.
Our mission is to:
- Provide temporary quality care for behaviorally and medically sound companion pet dogs while working to match them with long term loving homes where they, and their humans, will thrive;
- Support initiatives that will humanely reduce the hunger of homeless and at risk dogs in need; and
- Inspire action for responsible pet guardianship and long term solutions for the above efforts, while treating every dog, and human, as an individual.

Setting Up For Success
Easing the suffering of at-risk and homeless animals is a noble goal. For every dog in our care, we are committed to providing proper nutrition, preventative and essential veterinary care, socialization, exercise, training, and safety measures. Achieving this requires a deep understanding of each dog's needs, both as a species and breed, and on an individual basis. Our dedicated volunteers, guided by our team of trained professionals, observe, report, and interpret each dog's behavior. We use this valuable information, along with our resources, to enhance their quality of life to the fullest.
We aim to find the right home for each of our dogs, where they can reach their full potential, and to provide those homes with the tools they need to succeed.
Planning for Future Impact
At SOSARL, we focus on supporting both dogs and their people. In addition to adoptions, SOS invests in:
- Rescue partnerships to share resources, best practices, and help more animals
- Transport programs to save lives by finding homes in New England for animals from communities where shelters are overwhelmed and underfunded
- Foster care programs to manage medical and behavioral needs
- Training and behavior programs to help dogs and their humans be good citizens at home and in public and live good quality lives
- Community engagement and volunteering to involve more animal lovers in our important work and spread the word!
