National Pet Wellness Month

Every October, the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) celebrates National Pet Wellness Month. This month we are reminded of the importance of promoting positive lifestyle choices for dogs and cats to help them lead long, happy, and healthy lives. We all want our pets to live forever and we can help aid positive longevity through the choices we make for them.
Ways to help promote longevity in your pets include, but are not limited to:
- Nutritious food
- Physical activity such as walking, hiking or playing with friends
- Mental stimulation such as training classes, puzzle toys, or games
- Vitamins and supplements
- Regular wellness visits with your vet, including preventative care
- Doing more of what makes them happy!
At SOSARL, we strive to place dogs in homes that we believe to be best for them mentally and physically long term. Each dog has individual needs, and taking the extra time to understand each dog and each adopter we work with makes a world of difference.
At SOS reTAIL, we chose the products we carry with your pet’s health and long term wellness in mind, always. Here are just a few examples:

Fall is a GREAT time to get outside with your pups too, especially in the northeast! Here are a few beautiful places for a walk and/or hike in Rhode Island:

- King Preserve, Saunderstown, RI
- Lincoln Woods State Park, Lincoln, RI
- Blackstone Park Conservation District, Providence, RI
- Cliff Walk, Newport, RI
- Black Point Trailhead, Narragansett, RI
- and many more! And if you’re up for a day adventure, pop over to our neighboring states with your pups, too. There are so many fun things to do in New England for you and your pup!
